I don’t know about you, but I find that those last few weeks before winter break can just drag on and on! Students are getting restless in their seats, and your patience is wearing. This is the perfect opportunity to use fun French Christmas activities that engage students while also bringing some festivity to the classroom. Here are some of my favourite classroom Christmas activities you can do with your students to get through those long few weeks!
#1: French Christmas Games Bundle
One of my favourite French Christmas activities is to make your own Bingo. Your students will create their own Bingo cards using the symbols provided. Then you’ll use the calling cards and play with them! Students will mark the symbol if it appears on their board. They can also colour in the symbol for some added fun! This is a great vocabulary building game that students always love!
Another fun Christmas activity is Bang! Have students draw a card. If they can correctly identify the picture, or the read the word, then they get a point. If they pick a Bang! card, then they lose their points. This can be played in teams or students can play individually.
My students always love playing Little Mouse, Where Are You? to practice sight words. To play this classroom Christmas game, hide the mouse under a card. Students need to correctly say the word, then you lift up the card to reveal what’s underneath. Keep playing until they find the hidden mouse.
Want to easily bring these Christmas games and more to your classroom? Grab the French Christmas Games and Activities Bundle. It includes Bingo, Bang!, Little Mouse, and break-apart puzzles. Simply print and prep the games.
#2: Math and Literacy French Christmas Activities
Bring Christmas cheer to your classroom with this French math and literacy bundle. Themed math and literacy activities are a great way to incorporate Christmas activities in your classroom while still having students engage in academic tasks. This French Christmas bundle includes literacy activities like alphabet writing, directed drawings with writing, and colour by letter, as well as a variety of math activities like patterning, counting, measurement, and geoboards.
Plus, the bundle includes some extra festive activities like fine motor tracing, colouring pages, and decorating a Christmas tree. This packet is best for Kindergarten students, but can work for grade 1 students as well. Just print the pages, and you are ready to go! No extra prep work required!
#3: French Literacy Centres
My Literacy Centres resources come with ten different literacy-based activities that are perfect for primary students. These fun Christmas activities work on reading, writing, word work, and vocabulary. Plus, they are fantastic for small group rotations. Students will love the hands-on activities, and you’ll love being able to provide a fun way to count down to winter break – while still teaching content! This bundle is perfect for your primary French Immersion students.
#4: Early Finishers French Christmas Activities
One of the most challenging parts of those last few weeks before Christmas break is keeping those early finishers engaged. Luckily, these French Early Finisher Activities make it simple! It includes ten no-prep activities like mystery images, a class book, I Spy, directed drawings, and much more. These French Christmas activities are no prep, simply photocopy and you’re ready to go!
